Who needs an author website?

If you're an author or aspiring author, you do. Your author website is a key component of your writing career.

If you're already published, it's a way to be found by media and publishing professionals, as well as to build an audience and attract readers on a platform you can control. If you're not yet published, it can help you establish a professional web presence and build a platform before your book comes out.

For those with the means, it's great to have a professional web designer, but that often costs thousands of dollars. Even courses can be prohibitively expensive. I was just sent an ad for one that cost almost $1000!

I'm sure it was a great course, but if you're living on a shoestring, from paycheck to paycheck like a lot of authors, that's not an option.

But that doesn't mean you need to wait until you win the lottery to have an author website you can be proud of. This self-study course will teach you everything you need to get started. It's designed for authors who

  • want an author website
  • have limited funds and can't afford a professional web designer
  • are unfamiliar with or intimidated by the idea of making or maintaining a site on your own
  • prefer to study on your own or are on a limited budget that makes the cost of the premium version of this course prohibitive.

You'll learn how to plan your website; how and where to get a domain name and hosting; how to set up and customize your site; how to create content, insert links, and insert and manipulate images; how to target your audience, get traffic, monetize your site, and more.

By the time you complete the course, you'll be able to set up and maintain a simple, yet professional website. No bells and whistles--not yet--just a comfortable familiarity with the basics.

Although this is a self-study course, you can still email me if you get stuck--and I will answer. If you have a bigger budget and would like a course with more individual attention, you might prefer the premium version of this course.

Here's what a few course participants have to say:

"I recently attended a...workshop on basic Word Press web building taught over the Internet by Jaden Terrell. I completed the workshop empowered! I actually wanted to try my hand at creating a simple site. Kudos to Terrell for her clear teaching style and her ability to convey that in an online class. I highly recommend her as a teacher." - Carolyn Haines, USA Today bestselling author of the Sarah Booth Delaney, Pluto's Snitch, and Familiar Legacy mystery series.

"Jaden is one of the most patient and responsive teachers I've ever been fortunate enough to have. She really knows how to break things down so you can understand them. I'm so grateful for everything she's taught me." - Michelle Broussard Honick, author of Ghosts, Gangsters, and Gamblers of Las Vegas

I've kept the price of this course low because I know what it's like to have to pass on a course I really wanted just because I didn't have enough money in the bank.

If you have any questions about the course, or if you need it but really can't afford to take it even at this price, send me an email at  [email protected]  explaining your situation, and we'll work something out.
